A Special Introduction to the ARRIVAL OF ADVENT and COMING OF CHRISTMAS

Elk Grove Presbyterian Church is truly blessed and delighted to offer a beautiful musical prayer service on Wednesday, Nov 28, 2018, at 7:00pm in anticipation of the arrival of Advent.

The inspiring Holden Evening Prayer service (written by Marty Haugen) includes “Service of Light,” Evening Hymn-“Joyous Light of Heav’nly Glory,” “Evening Thanksgiving,”The Annunciation,”The Magnificat,”Litany and Prayers,” and “Final Blessing.”  The lovely voice of Virginia Ayres Dawson will lead this engaging tribute.

Taken from the Gospel of Luke 1:46-55, the passionate and endearing “The Annunciation” and “The Magnificat” (also known as “Mary’s Song”) are a perfect entrance into the church season of Advent, a period of spiritual preparation for the coming of Jesus Christ.

This is an ideal opportunity to invite family and friends to experience awesome beauty in the traditional music of the church while using contemporary and inclusive language.  Everyone is welcome!  There will be no Sermon, Holy Communion or Offering.

Rev. Bob Azzarito is planning a Holy Land Tour March 25 – April 6, 2019. He hopes people from UPC and EGPC will comprise the majority of a group that may include others from the Sacramento area. He wants Dexter to help lead the tour, along with local guides. Interested? – then attend an informational meeting at University Presbyterian Church at 7 PM on Wednesday, August 15. Fliers with more info available in the narthex.

IT’S ALMOST MAGIC! – Plastic bottles and soda and beer bottles have been turned into support for education ($130 so far). Just remove the caps from plastic bottles, bring them and soda/beer bottles to the church and place them in the blue bin in the kitchen. We are looking for someone to redeem these containers at a recycling facility. If you can help, please contact Rev. McNamara.

If you cannot spare the time to prepare goodies for our hospitality time after worship, please consider making a donation to the green “Hospitality Donation Box”
located at the hospitality table. Donating will help fill the void dates and lessen the burden on members who regularly prepare goodies.

imagesBIBLE STUDY-continues this Thursday, November 1 at 7 PM. We are studying the book of Romans, one of the more formal New Testament books. Our theme is the righteousness of God; we will also review basic Christian doctrines. Leader: Judy Lewis (916-897-8542).
