JAZZ & BLUES VESPERS 2019

– Looking forward to another season of great music ! Pick up a performance schedule in the church narthex.

September 1st. Gary Mendoza. This Elk Grove singer, songwriter, who plays keyboard and harmonica is popular with audiences up and down the California coast and on any stage in this region with his rocking blues music. He has been fronting his own band for more than 20 years.. Doors open at 3:30, music begins at 4 PM. Open seating and donations (suggested $10) taken at the door. Don’t miss it!

EGPC Book Club

EGPC BOOK CLUB -The selection for June is “Where the Crawdads Sing” by Delia Owens and the book for July is “Two Old Women” by Velma Wallis. We meet the 4th Tuesday of each month at 11 AM at EGPC. Next Meeting June 25th. 

WANTED: PLASTIC WATER BOTTLES

IT’S ALMOST MAGIC! – Plastic bottles and soda and beer bottles have been turned into support for education ($130 so far). Just remove the caps from plastic bottles, bring them and soda/beer bottles to the church and place them in the blue bin in the kitchen. We are looking for someone to redeem these containers at a recycling facility. If you can help, please contact Rev. McNamara.

HOSPITALITY DONATIONS

If you cannot spare the time to prepare goodies for our hospitality time after worship, please consider making a donation to the green “Hospitality Donation Box”
located at the hospitality table. Donating will help fill the void dates and lessen the burden on members who regularly prepare goodies.

Seeing Stars

stars-shootingThe EGPC congregation is seeing stars, for a very good reason! Specifically, a colored star will be placed on your name badge which corresponds to the Deacon assigned to your congregational care. The color assignments for 2017 are as follows:

Yellow Star -Marlene Laufer

Blue Star – Larry Bowermaster

Red Star – Cheri Bowermaster

Purple Star – Patty Huggett

Orange Star– Kathy Wong

Our Pastor

Dexter

Rev. Dexter McNamara became our full-time pastor on April 1, 2015.

Dexter is a graduate of UCLA and Princeton Theological Seminary.  He spent 12 years in Denver, Colorado, serving in congregations and community programs.  He came to Sacramento in 1983 to join the staff of Fremont Presbyterian Church, serving there until 1993.  He subsequently worked with the Interfaith Service Bureau, California Emergency Foodlink, and Partners In Care.

Dexter and his wife, Carole, have a combined family of 5 grown children and nine grandchildren…plus a very high-energy dog named Jackson.
